The party:

  • Bernard the Cleric 2
  • Gorn the Dwarf

The henchmen

  • Thorgus’ the fighter
  • Sylvian the Elf
  • Havard the Half Elf
  • Bardamus the bard

Deciding to cut out to patrol the Marsh to the north with his newly paid and upgraded crew, Bernard and company set off on foot. After fording the river in a low spot, the party entered the marsh and quickly became lost. As dusk came the party dodged a flight of stirges and made a hasty camp on a small, raised island beset up two sides by thick patches of reeds. Quickly the party set watch, ate, and collected firewood for the night. All through the night the guard on watch would report shining eyes from the reeds and at dawn the party prepared for a morning raid. Soon their fears were confirmed as frogmen launched themselves over the heads of the front line. Havard died instantly from the spear thrust and Sylvian was hurt bad. The fight descended into a crazy melee before the frogmen were off leaving three dead amphibians.

A quick burial and a few words before the party was off making their way down as they searched. Before getting out of the swamp, the party passed a giant oak tree shading a small glade with three pole houses near shore. The party investigated and chased off two giant spiders before burning their nest. Thorgus climbed in the last unburnt hut, and claimed a covered two handed sword that hummed with power. He carefully wrapped it back in its blanket, and tied it to his pack. The party moved on quickly before the spiders came back.

Continuing south to the northern bank of the Nightmoor River, the party came upon a charred willow tree whose branches bent under charms and fetishes. Searching about, the party suspected the small knoll it sat upon to be semi hollow. After tying a rope to Sylvian, he swam under to investigate. A brief struggle, before the rope snapped and Sylvian did not resurface. The party said a prayer left to find a place to cross the river, and made it through the gate of Raven Down before sunset.
